The latest...

Until my post earlier this week, it had been quite a while since I last visited here and provided an update. Honestly, not much has been happening lately. I'm excited for the upcoming week-long gig with Remember Scarlet at Mount Union College - and am also anxious to begin working on writing and recording some fresh new music. If you haven't already done so, check out the JukeBox Player under the Music section of www.baydamusic.com to check out the latest Remember Scarlet song, entitled "Trial By Fire."

Work as an engineer at Tec, Inc. has been going well - we've actually been quite busy lately, which is very refreshing, especially considering all of the negative news and horror stories about that current state of the USA's economy.

This summer so far has been very hectic as well, especially with many of my friends getting married. It's been a great time so far, and I have another wedding (I'm actually *in* this one) this coming weekend, which promises to be a great time too.

On a not-so-cool note, my TV decided it was finally time to die. I'm not much of a TV watcher, but I really enjoy watching movies and using my surround sound system - now I'm unable to do so, at least temporarily. I also miss watching certain shows on the Discovery Channel and other stations - although I haven't actually watched cable television in at least a few months. Guess it's a classic case of "don't know what you've got until it's gone." So now a decision must be made - do I rush out and get that 46" or 52" flat panel Sony Bravia XBR series LCD television, or just live without a television altogether and cancel the digital cable? The TV will cost a lot of money, whereas if I do without and cancel the cable, I'll be saving a lot of money (but will be unable to use my surround sound to watch DVDs). In the grand scheme of life, a television isn't really a big deal - perhaps it's a sign that I should spend more time writing new music and recording demos!

That's about all for now - I'll do my best to post updates on more of a regular basis.

RECAP: MVCSC

I just returned home after spending last week in Rushville, Indiana where I performed each night with some very special friends for approximately 40 junior high students and 15 adult staff members at  Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp. A great time was had by all, and plenty of new friends were made. Many thanks go out to Rachel Bishop, Brenten Lamoncha, and Ethan Hardwick, my musical comrades and partners in crime - thanks for your hard work, dedication, and a job well done! I could not have done it without all of your help. I'm also proud of the fact that (unlike LAST year) none of the band members were injured this time around - I seem to vaguely remember a gimpy vocalist with a very badly sprained ankle sitting on stage with a microphone and singing - and also remember playing my guitar with a broken finger last year. Great times! Special thanks go out to Matt Hatfield and Chris Koch for an excellent job leading and planning the week, and also to Mike Riggs for his rather "entertaining" lessons. Thanks also to all of the other staff members and children. I'm amazed with how much I learned as an "adult" (I'm still not very keen on associating that word with myself, as I still feel as if I am a kid) from all of the kids. It was awesome to spend the week "on fire" and getting to know everyone - I'm definitely looking forward to returning once again next year!
