New recordings and other music-related updates...

Praise & Worship Recording Project

Things have been moving along - albeit rather slowly - for the praise & worship recording project. As stated here previously, basic rhythm guitar tracks and lead vocal tracks have been completed since August. Drum tracks (hopefully for all 16 songs) will be recorded this weekend. Beyond that, the rest of the instrumentation and vocal tracks will be completed, hopefully by Spring 2007.

An early, rough demo version of the song "Days Of Elijah" has been posted to my MySpace page - click here to check it out. The demo features lead vocals by David Lipely, keyboards by Ken Muller, and rhythm guitar by yours truly. I am excited to add drums and other instruments to complete the song, although the early demo has a certain energy to it in its stripped down form. In the coming weeks, I will upload additional demo tracks to my MySpace page, so check back frequently. The URL for the page is: www.myspace.com/christopherleemusic.

The Reality Effect

In other news, I have recently joined the Salem, Ohio-based Christian rock group The Reality Effect. I have only played a few short shows with them, but it has been an amazing journey thus far. I am excited to begin composing original material with the other guys, bringing my own twisted style and musical tastes to the table. The Reality Effect has a MySpace page as well, where you can hear a couple songs to sample the band's sound. The 2 songs currently featured there were recorded prior to my joining the band, and feature previous guitarist J.C., but provide a glimpse into what the band is about nonetheless. Click the following link to view the Reality Effect at MySpace: www.myspace.com/therealityeffect. I hope to begin recording sessions with The Reality Effect sometime in the not-so-distant future, but time will be the judge of if and when exactly that will occur.

Christopher Lee Website

I will also begin working on an updated version of my website, which will be unveiled as the latest recording projects gather more steam and approach a more complete state. I have already begun working on a simple flash introduction, a sneak peek of which may be viewed by clicking here.

In conclusion, much has been happening lately, despite my lack of recent updates. Further information will come soon, so stay tuned!

Food for Thought...

Provided below is a link to a particularly moving song and corresponding video by the band Tribe of Judah, featuring former Extreme and Van Halen vocalist Gary Cherone.

The song, titled "Suffering Servant," was originally intended to be included as part of the original motion picture soundtrack for The Passion of the Christ, but was not included in the final edit of the film. The video below is not an official video for the song, as it features scenes from the film interspersed with the audio of the original demo recording; however, it fits appropriately with the theme and lyrics of the song. The end of the video is particularly effective.

Sometimes, as Christians, we need to be reminded of the harsh reality of what Jesus faced and dealt with in order to better understand the often unfathomable concepts of mercy, grace, forgiveness, and ultimately, love. What better example exists of true unconditional love than the completely innocent One who willingly sacrificed His own earthly life and physical being for the ultimate eternal benefit of others? Hopefully this short song and corresponding video can help to serve as a reminder of such things.
